Traveling in Croatia

Wednesday, April 08, 2009 / by Agence 2000 /

Croatia has what is considered as one of the most advanced market economy in South-Eastern Europe. Its transportation system and roadways have recently been modernized and it has become a favorite vacation spot for most Europeans.

Most people like to go to Croatia between April to September since this is the time when prices are at their lowest. Unfortunately, it is still too cold to swim on the beach but you’ll surely enjoy the warm, clear skies especially in Split. Zagreb during this time has several festivities and this is the perfect time to go if you wish to indulge with the rich cultural heritage of the country. The end of May and beginning of June is usually field trip months so better watch out for battalions of students at this time.

The most expensive months to visit are July and August as this are the official tourist months. Although some resorts might be crowded at this time, some hotels offer excursions to out of the way highlands and most boat lines can take you to different islands as the weather is conducive for water travel. Most seasoned tourists say that the best month to visit Croatia is September as the crowd is thinner, off-peak rates apply and fruits are also abundant during this time.

Going to Croatia is pretty easy with its network of airports and most visitors use Zagreb, Pula, Split or Dubrovnik to get to the country. Once at the airport, most tourists already have prearranged Croatia taxi transfers to ensure that their first day in the country run as smoothly as possible. Some use the Split airport taxi to travel in and around the city. Backpackers, on the other hand, choose to use public transportation such as the trains and the bus network. Trains are considerably cheaper and more comfortable than the bus but it is also slower except for the new high speed train being used with the route Zagreb-Split.

There are also several car rental chains available in the cities Zangeb, Split and Dubrovnik. If you want to go on a driving adventure, the Adriatic highway from Italy to Albania which passes through the steep slopes of Croatia is considered to be an exciting one. Unfortunately, but if you are from a country which has left hand driving, such as the United States, then you might have trouble going around with your own vehicle. You can always book taxi Croatia and go on the safe side. Ferry rides are also available if you are travelling among the islands of the Adriatic Sea. With the immaculate view and the peaceful waters, this is a great way to relax and enjoy your visit.

Of course, accommodation is bountiful as Croatia is already one of the favorite tourist spots in Europe since it is the home of seven World Heritage Sites and eight national parks. People who have been to the country say that it is a piece of heaven on earth. With its pristine beaches and historic villages, Croatia is truly a place to explore.
