Attending Helsinki and not checking the delight of a communal sauna is the same as tipping to Texas and not visiting a rodeo. However, in spite of the almost prohibitive price of alcohol in the country, it is for cultural causes rather than economic cause, which rather than popping to the bar after working hours, numerous Helsinki residents decide to attend the sauna instead.
Finns trust in the curing sauna power and consider that regular attendance assists banish influenza and colds. They are eager to participate in an excellent communal sweat, detoxifying their bodies while having a good chat, get closer to family and friends.

Though, when you land up in Helsinki and imagine joining the locals, it is not as easy as just taking a journey to the sauna. For instance, at the main bathhouse in the city, the wonderfully reinstated art deco called Yrjönkadun Uimahalli - there is an option of three sauna types, each providing a diverse experience. They are catered in an option of steam, wood or electric and each of them has their own exclusive feel, though all are projected to make every occupant sweat! In dry heat of the electric sauna type, water is usually thrown over rocks in order to produce a burst of steam that fast raises the temperature. The wood sauna provides a more moist heat, and this sauna type is the moistest designed to sweat those impurities out of your pores!
